Gandi, ICANN and you enter the next phase

This month, we're busy getting ready. Change is in the air and everything is slowly shifting into a brand new phase.

On our side, we're getting ready for #gandiv5, the next evolution in our website. We'll touch briefly on that just a few lines below here. Then we'll quickly look at this month's recently-delegated TLDs before taking an in-depth look at the ICANN IANA transition that took place, amongst some controversy, on the first of this month.

As always, we'll review this month's TLD release calendar so that you can prepare for the coming TLD releases and do our monthly promo roundup. You might want you brace yourself for the .net promo. It's a big one.

Other than that, we're busy preparing. Now, about that #gandiv5 thing we mentioned…

1. #gandiV5
We're currently on version 4 of our website, but we are rapidly hurdling towards the beta of version 5, which today we're christening with the hashtag #gandiv5. We're not quite ready to unveil anything yet, but here's a sneak peak of what you can look forward to:
  • New account dashboard
  • Multi-organization management under a single account
  • Redesigned DNS service
  • AI-enhanced domain search
  • Mobile-friendly responsive design

Stay tuned of course for more news and updates with #gandiv5
2. Recently-delegated TLDs
While we're busy with #gandiv5, ICANN seems preoccupied too. Only seven TLDs were delegated this past month and only two of those weren't brand TLDs.
Get a quick summary of those new TLDs:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-10-07/9535-recently-delegated_tlds_october_2016/

3. About that IANA transition ...
What could have been preoccupying ICANN this past month? Maybe it has something to do with the much-debated IANA transition, when ICANN's contract to manage the IANA function expired and this authority devolved back to ICANN.

De facto, IANA functions have been independent of the US government since ICANN's inception. But now that's officially the case. We reviewed the how and the why this month.

See for yourself here:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-10-11/9433-so_about_that_icann_iana_transition/

Back to school, back to business and back to promos

Update: Price and rule change for .fi
Historically, .fi domains have only been open to Finnish residents and companies, but as of 3:00 AM PDT on September 5, .fi will bust wide open for anyone and everyone. The .fi TLD has lot of good options, too. To lighten the load on anyone who wants to give a .fi domain a shot and to celebrate the new found .fi-dom, we're also running a promotion on new .fi domains. Find out all the details: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-08-29/9145-rule_change_and_a_promo_for_.fi/

Wizishop: .shop's ambassador to France
The release of the new TLD .shop is a little bit more special than the typical nTLD release. That's because one of our long-time partners and resellers, Wizishop, who run an e-commerce platform, have been selected to participate in .shop's Pioneer Program. Gandi supported their application and we're proud they were selected to .shop's «ambassador to France.» We even did a press release to make the announcement that much more official. Read the full press release: fr.gandi.press/135247-wizishop-french-pioneer-on-the-new-shop-frontier

Recently-delegated TLDs
As for the bleeding edge of the new TLD program, there are still a lot of Brand TLDs being delegated right now, but we also found four somewhat controversial TLDs that were quietly delegated this past month, and one in particular that took a rocky road to get there. Follow the drama in full: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-09-06/9301-recently-delegated_tlds_september_2016/

Kernel Recipes
Gandi is a proud partner once again this year of Kernel Recipes, happening this month in Paris from September 28 through 30. It's already full but you can still follow the live tweet and see presentations online on the event site. Learn about Kernel Recipes: kernel-recipes.org/en/2016/

Newsletter August 2016: So far this year

1. Recently-delegated TLDs
This month there were just three truly generic TLDs delegated to the root by ICANN and close to a hundred Brand TLDs. So we took the opportunity to look at those Brand TLDs.

Read about The Brand TLDs: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-08-10/9049-recently-delegated_tlds_august_2016/

2. In-depth: What’s a premium domain? and new gTLDs
We’ve covered a number of topics in depth so far this year, but we wanted to highlight two for your summer reading needs. First, this spring we gave a run-down on Premium domains.

Read all about them in our article from March: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-25/7469-what_is_a_premium_domain/

Next, it was only at the beginning of the summer we checked in on the new gTLD program, but we’re looking back at them again this month while the information is still fresh. It’s landmark program and we’re only at the halfway point.

Find out where we’re at: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-29/8677-checking_in_on_new_tlds/

3. Visualizations: Domain lifecycle, choosing hosting and transfers
Some concepts are better explained with visuals. That’s why we started a series of visualizations focusing on our areas of expertise.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Here’s the equivalent of three thousand, then:
The Lifecycle of a Domain: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-04/7226-the_lifecycle_of_a_domain/
How to choose a hosting option: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-14/8431-how_to_choose_a_hosting_option/
Transfer Quest: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-05-11/8024-transfer_quest_the_domain_name_transfer_procedure/

4. Tech fundamentals: IANA and Public-key cryptography
With our Tech fundamentals series, we’ve been getting back to basics and seeing the stories of the people who built those basics. If you’ve liked our two entries so far in this series, also check out the series of talks we put on this year with our friends at CloudFlare, we called the
Root Zone.

In March, we remembered IANA: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-10/7280-tech_fundamentals_iana/
And in May, we traced the history of public-key cryptography: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-05-11/7790-tech_fundamentals_public_key_cryptography/

6. Promo Roundup
Don't miss these promos ending in August:
Ongoing promotions:

That about wraps up our review of featured articles so far this year. Of course, not only have we been working on content to share with you each month, but also on our products and services. Stay tuned, we have exciting projects in the works.

This summer, one-click WordPress, NodeJS and promos

This past month Paul Vixie visited our office in San Francisco to talk about DNS. When he was asked what fights were worth fighting on today’s internet, he reflected on two phases in his career: the time he spent at ISC heading the organization that wrote BIND 9 and the time spent building MAPS, trying to stamp out internet abuse completely.

In the first case, he paved the way for the modern internet. In the second, he tried to hold back a growing tide of spam.

“Build roads,” he said, “don’t build walls.”

It’s good sense. It’s better to make something work than try to stop people from using something already out there. This month, we’re building roads.

We introduced One-click WordPress installations on Simple Hosting instances, for one, and released a new Node.js instance.

We also looked at Recently-delegated TLDs. We also looked into how ICANN’s nTLD program, which began with a promise to open up innumerable new namespaces, is coming along.

As always, of course, we’re summing up this month’s TLD release calendar and we rounded up all our current TLD promos for your convenience.

Paul’s words make good sense and are a good mantra to live by. And it’s a wish for the world as well. We hope this month and the rest of this year, we can all focus on building roads, not walls.

1. One-click Wordpress on Simple Hosting
The most popular CMS (content management system) in the world, WordPress, can now be installed with a single click on Gandi Simple Hosting. We created a video tutorial on how: youtu.be/n3yNr6m-F-g For the rest of the details, check out our post:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-22/8575-one-click_wordpress_on_simple_hosting/

2. New Node.js instance on Simple Hosting
In the past few months we’ve been bringing you a lot of new improvements on Node.js instances. The developer ecosystem for Node.js has evolve a bit since we first introduced Node.js so we had some long overdue updates to make.
So we’re happy to have launched this month a new version of our Node.js instance designed with developers in mind. Read about what that entails: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-20/8542-new_node.js_instance_on_simple_hosting/

3. Recently-delegated TLDs: July 2016
The TLDs added in June this year all seemed to have been a bit contentious, with objections for string confusion, legal use rights and one attempt to game the system represented in this past month’s delegated TLDs. Embrace the controversy: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-07-12/8827-recently-delegated_tlds_july_2016/

4. Checking in on new TLDs
ICANN launched the nTLD program in October 2013 and a little under three years later more than a thousand new TLDs have been delegated. By the beginning of June, 20 million domains in over 1,000 nTLDs had been registered, so we thought it was as good a time as any to check in on
how things are going. Check in with us on ICANN’s nTLD program:

In June, we're welcoming PHP7 and .STORE

As we enter the summer months in the northern hemisphere, we want to help you relax a bit. Choose your favorite tee-shirt (and why not a re-issued vintage Gandi one: www.gandi.net/tshirts/), kick back on the porch with a glass of lemonade (or a mint julep if you’re so inclined) and relax — because making things easier is what we’re all about this month.

To start out with, we’re making it easier for our global customers to buy products and services with us because now we’re proud to accept payment in ten more new currencies than before. We’ve also just updated Simple Hosting to PHP 7 and MySQL 5.6. We have some plans with that which aren’t quite ready yet that should make things easier for you too.

Next we hopefully ease some anxiety with our look at one of the reasons mail can be delayed. We’re also making it easier to pick out a hosting option with our Visualization of the levels of complexity and technical knowledge associated with different levels at which you might want control of a site.

And as always, we’re rounding out this month’s newsletter with a look at this month’s promos and TLD releases.

Ten new currencies now available at Gandi
We’re making it easier this month for customers who may not have ready access to a bank account with funds in USD by accepting payments in ten new currencies, increasing our total number of accepted currencies to 15 (well, 16 if you count Bitcoin).

Read about all currencies Gandi now accepts: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-13/8392-ten_new_currencies_now_available_at_gandi/

Update: PHP 7 + MySQL 5.6 (Percona) and PostgreSQL 9.4 on Simple Hosting
We are making it easier to use our Simple Hosting platform for hosting web applications by adding PHP 7, MySQL 5.6, PostgreSQL 9.4 and MongoDB 2.4 to Simple Hosting.

Find out how to try it out here: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-05-23/8130-php_7__mysql_5.6_percona__postgresql_9.4_on_simple_hosting/

Recently-delegated TLDs
This past month it seemed like all the strings that were delegated were attractive properties on a Monopoly board getting snatched up by all the usual players. TLDs like .blog, .dot, and .shop were all delegated this past month.

See if anyone got a monopoly this month: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-06/8332-recently-delegated_tlds_june_2016/

In-Depth: When your mail is delayed
Email is great and reliable when it gets there on time. But it can cause serious stress when on rare occasions it can be delayed for reasons beyond either your control or ours. We thought we’d at least provide you with an explanation of one possible reason for this and what you can do about it this month to relieve a bit of that anxiety.

Get answers on why your mail can get delayed: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-15/8473-when_your_mail_is_delayed/

Visualization: How to choose a hosting option
With the goal of making choosing a hosting option simpler and easier, we’ve peeled away hosting layer by layer to tease out a convenient hosting options diagram that illustrates the level of control you get at each level and the technical knowledge level you need to manage hosting at that level.

Find your hosting option: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-06-14/8431-how_to_choose_a_hosting_option/

Spring finally sprang, and so did promos and dataviz

It’s May, which means it’s now full-on springtime in the northern hemisphere. Nature seems like one big information processing system, where the input of so many little packets of code is transmuted into the beautiful output of green sprouts and buds and flowers and debugging is taken literally. Maybe it just means we need to step away from our keyboards more often, but It has us thinking about transformation.

This month, we launch a more expansive look into slamming email scams. We’re also looking at the latest TLDs to be transformed from application to an actual extension in our Recently Delegated TLDs update.

Then, we visualize the domain name transfer process. Going In Depth we briefly explore the history of Public Key Encryption in this month’s Tech Fundamentals. Finally, of course, we end with a look at TLD releases and current and ongoing promos.

1. In depth about Slamming Emails
Last month, we provided a guide on how to spot a slamming email. That launched us into a more expansive look at domain slamming in general, the different forms it comes in, and some additional tips for staying safe out there.

Read our full post here:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-05-06/7952-we_need_to_talk_about_slamming_again/

2. Recently-delegated TLDs
In the past 30 days or so, plenty of new generic TLD applications have come to ultimate fruition by being added to the root zone.

The list includes a couple of TLDs that may have been the subject of some wheeling and dealing behind the scenes were delegated to the root, as well as an unexpectedly controversial TLD and more.

Read which strings were delegated:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-05-04/7940-recently-delegated_tlds_may_2016/

3. Visualization: Domain name transfer procedure
This month, we planted the seeds of our expertise in all matters domain-related, and put together a visualization that blossomed into quite a neat little project. We have to admit we had some fun with it. This time around, we looked at the procedure for transferring a domain name between registrars (with special attention to the process to transfer in to Gandi, of course).

The result was a visual guide to a quest fraught with peril: transferring your domain name.

Begin your quest:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-05-11/8024-transfer_quest_the_domain_name_transfer_procedure/

4. Tech Fundamentals: Public key encryption
From the start, public key cryptography was seen as needed by all and a challenge to military authority.

From Diffie and Hellman through Rivest, Shamir and Adleman, Phil Zimmerman's landmark PGP, we looked at public key cryptography’s flourishing as an invaluable human rights tool and look to the future fruits we hope to see it bear in this month’s Tech Fundamentals.

Read our history of public key encryption:

Newsletter April 2016: NVM, premium domains and more

1. Node Version Manager on Simple Hosting
Node Version Manager, better known as nvm, is now available on Simple Hosting Node.js. This means you can run any version of Node.js distributed via nvm. You no longer have to limit yourself to the ones pre-installed on your instance.

All you need to do is add a ".nvmrc" file to your project's root directory and deploy your code.
One consequence of this update is that you can now run a parse server to build your own Facebook apps. Read about how to set that up in our wiki:
wiki.gandi.net/en/tutorials/simple/nodejs/parse-server
For full details, you can read our post about it:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-17/7355-node_version_manager_nvm_is_now_available_on_simple_hosting/
Or read our wiki tutorial:
wiki.gandi.net/en/simple/instance/nodejs#selection_of_nodejs_version

2. How to tell if you have received a slamming email
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-21/7445-how_to_detect_a_slamming_email
Over the past month or so, Gandi domain owners have been hit with a wave of slamming emails. These emails pretend to be official notices regarding your domain name registration trying to get you to provide your banking information to a third party.

If you ever get an email like this, remember:
  • i. Check the sender email address. Gandi reminders come from the address support-renew@gandi.net.
  • ii. Check the recipient address. If you have our anti-spam service activated, your real address will not be available to spammers. Gandi will only contact you at your real address. An email sent to an email address @contact.gandi.net, then, should be suspicious.
  • iii. Check the Messages tab and the Domains page in your Gandi account. If your domain is expired, you’ll see it on your Domains page. If we emailed you, you’ll see it in your Messages tab.
  • iv. Turn on anti-spam in your account management. If your account doesn’t have this feature activated, it’s harder to tell if an email is legitimate.
If this is a concern for you be sure to read our whole post:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-21/7445-how_to_detect_a_slamming_email

3. Recently-delegated TLDs
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-30/7478-recently-delegated_tlds_april_2016
A few of the notable strings added to the root this month (that is, newly-added TLDs) provide a glimpse into some of the factors that ICANN considers when it decides to approve or not approve new gTLD applications. In particular, they shed some light on Community TLDs, Community Objections, and Public Interest Commitments. Read about which strings were delegated and what they reveal: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-30/7478-recently-delegated_tlds_april_2016

4. Gandi Events
This past month, our CTO and Gandi US VP Pascal visited Holberton School a couple of times and we hosted a UX Speed Dating event at our San Francisco office. Coming up this month, we’ll be hosting another UX Speed Dating event on April 20 and on April 16 we’ll be kicking off our new series about DNS The Root Zone. with CloudFlare.

5. In-depth: What’s a premium domain?
“This domain name is categorized as ‘Premium’ at the registry.”
Maybe you’ve seen something like this message before at Gandi or another registrar. If you have, you may also have wondered what makes these domains special and why they cost extra.
This month we went in-depth on this topic. See what we found out:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-25/7469-what_is_a_premium_domain

Spring is in the air

It’s March and that fresh, clean Spring air is coaxing the buds on the trees to open up and cover the branches with soft, green spring leaves. That Spring air seems to have even blown through this month’s newsletter. At least, a crop of fresh, green updates, promos, and new releases are budding.

Premium .paris domains, long held dormant like winter plants, are now being released, we’re looking at new TLDs being added by ICANN to the root zone, Gandi is attending and hosting a flurry of events, you can upgrade your Simple Hosting instance to PHP 5.6 with one click and witness the lifecycle of a domain in one glance. We’ve also go some great new releases and promos this month, so don’t miss those calendars either.

1. Premium .paris domains released
A whole bunch of premium domains for generic terms in .paris like café.paris, brunch.paris or antiquites.paris that, starting 10 March will become available at the registrar of your choice. These domains are pure gold, and being premium domains they can come at a steep price—between €475.00 and €4,210.00 before tax. For more information, check out our post here: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-02/7196-ah_.paris_in_the_spring_premium_domains_released/

2. Recently-Added TLDs to the Root
We took a look at the TLDs coming down the line that were just added to ICANN in the past month. We won’t necessary end up offering all of them, but we thought you’d at least like to know. Have a look at what we found here: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-01/7124-recently-added_tlds_march_2016/

3. Gandi Events
This month we attended, are attending and even hosted a number of events, whether in Paris, San Francisco, Luxembourg, Taipei or beyond. You can read about what we saw, who we met, and what we learned in this post: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-10/7259-gandi_events_march_2016/

4. Update: One-click upgrade to PHP 5.6
A one-click upgrade to PHP 5.6 for Simple Hosting instances is now available in Beta.
All you need to do is go to your instance’s control panel and click on the “Update” link.
This operation will move everything over to PHP 5.6 automatically, though you might experience some issues during the next few days as we still consider the feature to be in Beta. We also highly suggest checking our guide to learn more about the differences between versions and about the issues you might encounter, since you won't be able to rollback this update. Users of other types of PHP instances, such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB databases, unfortunately will still have to upgrade manually. Our documentation also includes instructions and examples to help with manually migrating your instances.
For more information, check out our post here: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-08/7214-one-click_update_to_php_5.6_available_on_simple_hosting/

5. In-depth: The Lifecycle of a Domain
We’re also starting a new series of infographics exploring the mysterious recesses of domain name registration, hosting, the Internet as a whole. This month, we are delving into the life and death of a domain name: from the moment it is first registered and blinks into existence, to its
renewal, and then to the mysterious afterlife that lies beyond expiration. A picture is worth a thousand words, so before we spend too many of those words here, we should just recommend that you check out our visualization here: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-03-04/7226-the_lifecycle_of_a_domain/

February, 29 days, PHP 5.6 and 6 new promos

PHP 5.6 on Simple Hosting
The much anticipated update to PHP on our Simple Hosting platform is now available: PHP version 5.6 is here! Now PHP version 5.6 is the new default option for instance creation (PHP 5.4 can still be selected at creation). For those who already have a Simple Hosting instance using PHP 5.4, we have created a guide for migrating your instance from PHP 5.4 to PHP 5.6, available here:
wiki.gandi.net/en/tutorials/simple/php/migration. As of 22 March 2016, we will release an automatic upgrade feature for PHP 5.4/MySQL, which is by far the most common. Any other instance types using PHP will have to migrated manually. Also of note: the PHP 5.6 instance runs on a new system image based on Debian 8 (Jessie), in anticipation of new changes yet to come. Read full post about it here: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-02-08/6962-php_5.6_now_available_on_simple_hosting/

PHP dependency manager “Composer” now available
Along with the upgrade to PHP 5.6, you can now also use Composer, PHP’s most popular dependency manager, to install your applications dependencies on Simple Hosting. For those unfamiliar with the concept, dependency management tools allow web developers to easily keep track of third-party code included within a project. Instead of having to manage the files and versions manually, these tools offer a simple way to list an application’s external dependencies and then take care of downloading, installing and including the correct files. Simple Hosting already supports dependency managers for Node.js, Python and Ruby instances using the “npm”, “pip” and “bundler” tools, respectively and now wit the addition of Composer to our PHP instances, we can now cover modern development workflows on all instances types. If you’re interested in learning more and getting started with Composer on Simple Hosting, check out the example project and documentation here: wiki.gandi.net/en/simple/instance/php#dependency_management

Price increase on .uk domains March 1st
Nominet is the registry for the United Kingdom's ccTLD .uk, which also includes .co.uk,.org.uk and .me.uk, all of which are currently available through Gandi. And they have officially announced a rate increase on the domains they offer for both creation and renewal. So, as we generally like to do before a rate increase like this, we would suggest that if you are the owner of a .uk domain (including of course .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk), that you renew it now if possible before the change takes effect. We recommend renewing for as many years as possible. Read more about price increase here: www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-01-06/6644-price_increase_on_.uk_domains_march_1st/

Gandi (re)fait le .Point
On 18 February starting at 8:30 AM (Paris time of course), at Le Tank, Paris 11 (a Parisien coworking space, near the Bastille Metro stop), Gandi will be holding the third annual “Gandi (re)fait le .Point.” conference. This is an event to which we invite our customers interested in learning the ins and outs of registering domains in the new batch of TLDs that have been rolling out over the past few years. This year in particular we are focusing on effective strategies to protect your brand without breaking your budget. There are still a few slots left so if you’re in Paris (or can be in Paris) on 18 February, sign up! For more information, check out our eventbrite page: www.eventbrite.fr/e/billets-gandi-refait-le-point-20698499770

Gandi notifications
We are currently in the midst of a complete overhaul of our messaging system. We’ll be upgrading our mailing system to a modern, 2016 mailing system, adding additional protocols and multiple recipients and will span our entire suite of products. As you can expect, it’s no small task, and while we aren’t able to roll out a whole new system quite yet, we want to give some of you a sneak peak at what’s in store: we have now added notification by SMS message to our IaaS (Gandi Server) crediting system so that now, when your Server approaches the point where it will run out of credits, the notification can be delivered via text message. As new notification options roll out (including this one), you’ll be able to manage those preferences from the “Messages” tab of your Gandi account. If you’d like more information, as always, the most extensive documentation available is found in our wiki.

Let's start 2016 right: Let's Encrypt, FreeBSD, PHP update and new TLDs

The year 2016 has barely begun and it's already been a big year for Gandi. First and foremost, we've just completed an integration of Let's Encrypt to our Simple Hosting and Gandi Server platforms and launched LiveDNS in bêta, we are adding FreeBSD to our supported images on Gandi Server, planning PHP update on Simple Hosting and launching very popular new TLDs.

1.Gandi Integrates Let's Encrypt
The biggest news out of Gandi this month has to be the announcement of our financial support for Let's Encrypt and our subsequent technical integration of our Simple Hosting and Gandi Server platforms with Let's Encrypt certificates.
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-01-12/6677-free_tlsssl_certificates_with_lets_encrypt_and_gandi/

2. Hosting: New policy on system images
«Jack of all trades, master of none,» has never been a slogan we subscribed to. But we do recognize the need to focus our energies on making what we do well as perfect as possible, and yes, sometimes that means letting other things go. It's in that spirit that we are, as of 16 January 2016, reducing the number of available systems on our cloud
infrastructure hosting platform. Read more here:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2015-12-23/6473-introducing_freebsd_and_trimming_down_the_official_image_list

3. PHP update coming on Simple Hosting
Love it or hate it, PHP is the backbone of a lot of sites online, including popular CMSs like Wordpress, and it's by far the most popular language choice for a Gandi Simple Hosting instance, which currently uses PHP 5.4.45. The good news this month is that by the end of January we expect to be pushing version 5.6 on new Simple Hosting instances. No interruption in service will occur this time around since the change will only be applicable to new Simple Hosting instances. For those who currently have Simple Hosting instances using PHP 5.4.45, we're still working on an update procedure that will minimize the impact on your up-time. We'll keep you posted as we make further progress on that part.
For now, though, once this update is installed, new instances will have PHP 5.6 available, good news to a growing portion of current and potential Simple Hosting users.

4. Introducing Packet Journey
We also just introduced a new project allowing network operators to mount easy-to-configure, scalable software routers. Based on DPDK drivers and libraries and utilises functionalities which are native to the Linux kernel, forming a bridge between fast-forwarding and flexible software routing, it's called Packet Journey, and you can check out the GitHub page here:
github.com/Gandi/packet-journey

5. Live DNS now in beta
We are really excited about this one. We are currently beta testing our new DNS service, LiveDNS. This represents a significant development from our previous (current) DNS service. We completely overhauled the backend and the new service has its own set of nameservers that we update immediately upon any change you make. LiveDNS offers powerful features to manage DNS Zone templates that you can then integrate into your workflow, such as: bulk record management, association with multiple domains, versioning and rollback.
www.gandi.net/news/en/2015-12-29/6536-livedns_beta_first_glimpse_into_our_new_dns_platform/

6. Reminder: .uk prices going up
It's won't be for a while yet, but we wanted to give you a fair warning about this upcoming price increase on .uk domains (including .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk). On 1 March, prices for these domains will be changing in all currencies. For the details, we suggest navigating to this page:
www.gandi.net/news/en/2016-01-06/6644-price_increase_on_.uk_domains_march_1st/
But overall we want you to know that if you own a .uk domain—or want to—now is the time to register or renew it, before the price increase in March.
