We are renaming our Public Cloud EG instances

Why is the name changing?
Many of you have asked us for general purpose instance types at even better prices.
Our current EG instances were developed to meet high performance computing needs. They rely on an Intel E5-2687Wv3 processor at 3.1 GHz. As of tomorrow morning we are changing the name of these instances from EG to HG. HG stands for “haut de gamme” in French which means “premium” in English. All of the technical specs for these instances, including the performances and the prices will remain the same.

Over the next few weeks, we are going to offer you a new range of EG instances available from 20 euros per month. These instances will use Intel E5-2650v3 at 2.3 GHz.

Will this impact you?
Instances will be renamed on the OVH.com website, in the control panel and the API.
Important note: we suggest that OpenStack API users use the Flavor ID instead of the Flavor Name (before April 13th 2016), so that they are not affected by the name change. For example, the Flavor Name EG-120 will become HG-120 from April 13th 2016 whereas the Flavor ID will remain the same.

We are strengthening our range of instances
In addition, all our instances from the SP, HG and soon the EG range will shortly be available with local SSD storage (no RAID, no HA) so that you can enjoy even better performances.
The price of instances will remain unchanged. You will be able to choose SSD or HA-Ceph storage but with different storage capacities.

We will keep you up to date as soon as we can on this last point.

Regards
The OVH Public Cloud Team.
