We’re excited to announce that Spaces is now available in Amsterdam, providing scalable Object Storage to nearby regions!

You can now create a Space in AMS3 in two clicks using the drag-and-drop UI or API, and instantly have object storage that scales automatically, works with S3-compatible tools, and requires minimal configuration or management.

Pricing for Spaces is $5 per month and includes 250 GB of storage and 1 TB of outbound data transfer per month from any data center with Spaces deployed (currently NYC3 and AMS3). Inbound data transfer for uploading is free. Additional bandwidth is available at $0.01 per GB of data transfer, and additional storage is $0.02 per GB stored.

Today, we're excited to share that Block Storage is available to Droplets in NYC3 and LON1. With Block Storage, you can scale your storage independently of your compute and have more control over how you grow your infrastructure, enabling you to build and scale larger applications more easily. Block Storage has been a key part of our overall focus on strengthening the foundation of our platform to increase performance and enable our customers to scale.

We've seen incredible engagement since our launch last July. Users have created Block Storage volumes in SFO2, NYC1, FRA1, SGP1, TOR1, and BLR1 to scale databases, take backups, store media, and much more; NYC3 and LON1 are our seventh and eighth datacenters with Block Storage respectively.

As we continue to upgrade and augment our other datacenters, we'll be ensuring that Block Storage is added too. In order to help you plan your deployments, we've finalized the timeline for AMS3. Here is the schedule we're targeting for Block Storage rollout in 2017:

• Singapore (SGP1): Now!
• Toronto (TOR1): Now!
• Bangalore (BLR1): Now!
• New York City (NYC3): Now!
• London (LON1): Now!
• Amsterdam (AMS3): Q4

We’re excited to announce the launch of our latest product: Monitoring. Available for free on all Droplets in every datacenter, you’ll be able to collect metrics, monitor Droplet performance, and receive alerts from the DigitalOcean control panel. It can be enabled during Droplet creation or installed on existing Droplets.

Collect metrics. With Monitoring, you’ll be able to collect and view information about the following metrics:

• CPU
• Disk I/O
• Memory
• Disk usage
• Inbound and outbound bandwidth
• A process list ordered by CPU or memory usage

Metrics are collected in one-minute intervals and data is retained for a month, letting you view current and historical data.

Set alert policies. Create alert policies that will notify you whenever a metric has hit your specified threshold. You can receive alert notifications via email or through Slack.

Guest Agent Powered Droplet Graphs
Memory and disk space graphs are now available! We've gathered the knowledge that we've learned involving telemetry and performance observability and poured it into an open-source project called do-agent. The agent helps you get a better picture of the health of your Droplets by adding several new graphs to the Droplet graphs page, and making the existing graphs much more precise. (These upgrades are available for free.)

Monitoring Beta
The same DigitalOcean Agent that enables improved graphs above also serves as an essential building block for Monitoring. With access to stats on CPU, memory, disk space and network utilization, our new Monitoring Beta allows you to create an Alert Policy that notifies you when a Droplet hits a defined threshold. Our beta currently supports notifications via email and Slack, and more options are on the roadmap. Sign up here for early access.

Load Balancers are coming
Scale your applications and improve availability for your users. Load Balancers automatically distribute incoming traffic across your infrastructure, and are managed entirely from the DigitalOcean control panel or API—no ops needed. Sign up here to get notified about updates.

Other DO Updates
Here are some recent changes in the control panel and beyond:

• DNS UI/UX refresh and custom TTLs. We’ve updated the look and feel of the DNS page on the control panel. As part of this refresh, we’ve also added the ability to customize TTLs associated with your domain records.
• Network throughput improvements. All Droplets in all datacenters have had their network throughput increased from 1G to 2G. This has been automatically implemented—no further action on your part!
