Scaleway Bootscript: Simple Kernel Management for your C1 server
Bootscripts let you choose the kernel version your C1 server uses (but – teasing time – also the boot and initrd arguments, though this is not yet really useful).
A dozen of bootscripts are currently available. You can list them from your control panel and checkout the sources from our GitHub repository.

Images bootscripts
When you create a server on Scaleway, you need to select an image. It can be a distribution (Ubuntu, Fedora, ...), an image from the ImageHub (Wordpress, Torrents, ...), or your own (handcrafted!) image.

Each image has a default bootscript. For instance, the current Ubuntu image is associated with the bootscript 3.2.34-std #30 (stable), with, as you probably guessed, a Linux kernel version 3.2.34.

You can display and change the bootscript used by your image directly from the control panel:

• Click on Images in the left side menu
• Select the image you want to show or edit the bootscript
• Click SHOW in the advanced options section to display the bootscript menu

This way, everytime you boot a server using this image, it will use by default the bootscript you just set.

Another way to view the bootscript used by an image is to use our API:

Корпорация Amazon заключила с компанией Siemens 13-летний контракт на создание 150 МВт ветроэнергостанции (ветровой фермы) в США. Таким образом, компания продолжает реализацию по переходу на энергию, получаемую из возобновляемых источников. Ранее Amazon взяла на себя обязательство за несколько лет перейти на 100% обеспечение «зеленой энергией».

Ветроэнергостанция получила название Amazon Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge), и будет размещаться в округе Бентон, Индиана, США. Энергия станции будет использоваться для работы местного дата-центра, обеспечивающего работу Amazon Web Services. Кстати, ранее компания Amazon заявила о том, что в дата-центре, обслуживающем Amazon Web Services, будут установлены аккумуляторные батареи Tesla. В ДЦ Amazon установит аккумуляторную систему Tesla в 4.8 мВт*ч. В апреле же компания присоединилась к Американскому совету по возобновляемым источникам энергии, а также анонсировала участие в US PREF (U.S. Partnership for Renewable Energy Finance), для обеспечения взаимодействия с местной властью по вопросам использования возобновляемых источников энергии для облачных провайдеров.

Intervention on your RunAbove instances
As you might have heard from the security community, a new vulnerability has been found in one of the softwares that we use to build our RunAbove products.

This vulnerability, known as CVE-2015-3456 (nicknamed «Venom»), has been rated with a potentially high impact.

There is no publicly known exploit available in the wild as of yet, but as a precaution measure we will update our infrastructures without delay.

During the update, your RunAbove virtual machine will be paused for approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

The update process does not require a reboot of your virtual machine, however we may have to reboot your virtual machine eventually in a few cases.
