This month sees the release of some highly-awaited extensions, and
notably .PARIS, which has seen a flurry of activity with our French
customers, and everyone with a connection to Ile de France that would
like to protect their name in that extension. In addition to our usual
nGTLD list of anticipated release dates, we are pleased to announce that
we have finally added .COLOGNE and .KOELN to our line-up of extensions.

Christmas, gifts, and a quick presentation of our new hosting statistics
will be introduced here, as well. However, we will start with an
important note to inform you of the new EU VAT rules that will be taking
effect next month.

1. New VAT rules to take effect in January, 2015

Due to the European Commission's Council Directive 2008/8/EC of 12
February 2008, when a consumer who is subject to paying VAT and who is
established within the European Community makes an online purchase, they
will be charged the VAT rate of the Member State where they belong.

Concretely, this means that Gandi will need to change how we calculate
VAT, and as of January 1, 2015, if you are subject to VAT, you will no
longer pay the rate of our Luxembourg office, but rather, of the Member
State in which you are located, based on the address of your Gandi
handle.

2. Operation Twitter LoveBattle, powered by .xyz

Last month, we offered an incredible deal on .xyz domains: just 3/2.50
for a new registration, and that price is still good through December.
That's not all it got you though, since Gandi and the .XYZ registry each
kicked in to contribute $1 to one of our favourite organizations, the
Electronic Frontier Foundation, for each domain you bought.

We want to share the love again, and this time we will let you choose

These extensions are open to everyone, and creations are only
10.70/8.85 excl. VAT under A rates down to 6.87/5.68 excl. VAT under
E rates; you may even register them with German-accented characters!

4. More detailed hosting statistics

Stats on your servers and Simple Hosting instances have gotten a
makeover! You now have access to a more detailed overview of your CPU,
memory, disk and bandwidth usage on your instances and servers, allowing
you to make more informed decisions about the amount of resources you
choose to allocate.

The new statistics will be available via our API by the end of the
month.
